Dax Hock has been teaching, competing, and performing internationally for the past seven years. Highly regarded for his teaching abilities, creativity and energetic performances, Dax Hock is one of the world's top influential Swing Instructors today. Currently based in Osaka Japan, for the past 3.5 years he worked professionally as a performer/dancer/choreographer. Dax began Lindy Hopping in San Diego California in 1997, where he soon became an instructor and has been professionally dancing ever since. His 8 years of real swing experience combined with 7 years of professional dancer/choreographer experience sets the foundation for his unique and creative style. Dax is well known for his novel approach to instruction that is changing the way Swing is learned today. He focuses mostly on the basic fundamental principals that make up not just swing, but dancing as a whole. Students learn the art of connection-based movements, while emphasizing swingin' body movement and rhythms. In Dax's classes you learn how to DANCE, swing hard, and most of all have fun! His primary studies include Lindy Hop, Balboa, Carolina Shag, Shag, Ballet, Hip Hop, Locking, Be-Bob, Tap, Jazz, Salsa, and aerial acrobatics. Dax Hock began dancing when he was 15 years old in San Diego CA. and began teaching at the very young age of 16. Dax's love for dance soon spread across the spectrum as he started studying many forms of dance in order to enhance his swing. This included classes and recitals in ballet tap and jazz all the way to hip hop. Lindy Hop soon opened the doors to many opportunities and he was recruited into a company called Hop Star where he worked as a swing choreographer/trainer/dancer. Hop Star was one of San Diego's largest and most successful productions company's. Hop Star worked gigs were they were dancing for people like Brain Setzer to the President of the United States and for companies from Dean Witter to Oldsmobile. In 1998' he and Chelsea Mayne toured as swing instructors/performers with San Francisco's Indigo Swing for their Camel sponsored nation wide tour. After that Dax was in LA teaching workshops, privates and classes on a regular basis. After about a year in LA he booked a job in Japan where he worked as a performer, dancer trainer and choreographer for over 3.5 years. Now Dax is setting up shop in Japan, where he will concentrate on further spreading swing throughout the Island. - 1st place 2003 US OPEN National swing Dance Championships Lindy Hop Showcase - Special Awards 2003 Move Mix Street Competition Japan - 1st place 2001 ALHC Cabaret for the unforgettable DOG PILE Routine - 1st place 2001 "National Jitterbug Championships" Jack and Jill Champion - 4th place 2001 US OPEN National Swing Dance Championships Cabaret - 3rd place 2001 Monterey Swing By the Sea Regional For more information about Dax Hock. please visit www.mechakuchaswing.com and www.daxhock.com.
