Saturday July 16th, 2005: Theme: Jazz Level: all the level
1:15 - 2:15 - Beginning Jazz
Shim Sham:
Shim Sham is a must know dance for most social Lindy Dances you will
encounter. The sequence and the steps are pretty simple so it is fun for
all levels to join in.
2:40 - 4:30 - Intermediate/Advance Jazz
The Sassy Blues:
This jazz piece, unlike my past ones, is a more "low-down" and bluesy jazz
piece done to the song, "The Sassy Blues." Lots of simple but sweet body
movements that can be enjoyed by intermediate and advanced dancers.
Sunday July 17th, 2005: Theme: Musicality and Connection of the Lindy Hop Level: all the level 1:15 - 2:15 - Beginning Connection Skills: This class will be based on setting up a basic connection foundation for when you are dancing. 2:25 - 3:25 - Intermediate Musicality (syncs and breaks): This class will focus on hitting breaks and timing your steps to play around with the music. 3:35 - 4:35 - Advanced Musicality (becoming instruments): This class is all about the music. While we listen to different parts of songs, we will be making out bodies express what the music is expressing to us. Monday July 18th, 2005 (Japanese national holiday): Theme: Tricks and Showcase of the Lindy Hop Level: intermediate and advanced level 1:30 - 2:30 - Beginning slides and simple tricks: This class is designed for at least intermediate level dancers and will be based on cool and flashy moves to do on the social dance floor. 2:30 - 3:00 - Practice break 3:00 - 4:30 - Showcase/Competition Lindy Hop This class is the big stuff. The focus of this class being competition and performance. We will be doing fast movements, air steps, and lots of other things that would never be allowed on the social dancer floor. This is showcase Lindy, and will require a designated partner to dance with the whole class. *NOTE* Must have designated partners to participate in this class (Showcase/Competition Lindy Hop): If you want to look for your dance partner for this class, please join Day-1 and/or Day-2.
