This Shinjuku Trad Jazz Festival is a high-quality jazz fest that serves as a model for jazz festivals in Japan. A small private organizing committee, independent of public subsidies, operates with firm direction and focus, avoiding a scattershot approach.
In addition to top Japanese professionals in the field, amateur bands from across the country also perform. This year, the event will be held entirely free of charge at outdoor venues. In particular, at the venue in front of Tokyu Stay Hotel, all bands are professionals, so I strongly recommend arriving on time. The event takes place on the road in front of the hotel, with a decent amount of space for dancing every year.
I’ve summarized which segments TSDS will dance to in the Google Spreadsheet, so please refer to it. Note that there are many general audience members who don’t dance, so swing dancers should be considerate of those around them. Let’s work together to make it a jazz fest that everyone can enjoy!
